Our friend Sharon reminded us of this harbinger of spring, over at the other blog, for the Brooklyn Centre National Wildlife Community:

The February meeting of the Brooklyn Centre Naturalists will be held on Saturday, February 21st, at 2:00 pm at Brooklyn branch of the Cleveland Public Library, 3706 Pearl Rd., (corner of Mapledale), Cleveland, Ohio 44109.

Frog

This month the Brooklyn Centre Naturalists are hosting a free presentation by John Katko, president and founder of Friends of Wetlands and a member of the Ohio Environmental Council Board of directors, who will deliver a power point presentation on the amphibians of vernal pools – the frogs, toads, and salamanders that breed in these ephemeral wetlands. It will be a multimedia event, with photos and sounds of frog breeding calls. There will be a discussion of species and egg identification and of breeding times and behavior.  Seating is limited so please e-mail bcnaturalists@gmail.com to reserve your seat.
